Breast Augmentation Incision Location
Breast augmentation surgery has many factors that must be considered prior to committing to the procedure. One of the most important factors is the incision location in which the breast implant will be inserted. When visiting my Inland Empire practice, patients are informed of the procedure and have the opportunity to discuss their concerns. As a result of all the information available online, many of my patients are informed of their options and oftentimes request a specific incision. In my experience, patient input and feedback regarding their incision of choice provides them with optimal results and an overall satisfying experience.
Although I take the patient’s wants and desired outcome into consideration when implementing a surgical plan, there are two incision sites that I prefer; the inframammary (breast crease) or periareolar (around the nipple) incisions work well for both saline and silicone gel filled breast implants. These incision sites provide great visibility and control throughout the procedure. In addition, scarring is minimal and easily hidden with most bras and swimsuit tops.
